This is a terrific TV! I have been looking for a small TV for the kitchen for over a year. Since the national switch to HDTV, no major companies are making small TV's (smaller than 19"). So pleased I found this one. The price was great. I am using the TV with a Phillips HDTV antenna (Philips SDV2740/27 HDTV/UHF/VHF/FM Digital Indoor TV Antenna). We receive 34 channels clear as day. In fact, I split the antenna between two televisions, which saves me from purchasing an additional antenna. I read many reviews on Amazon and waited months to take the plunge. Some people were concerned with sound quality. The sound seems just fine to me. The TV was actually sent to me by J & R Electronics. I ordered the TV late on a Monday evening and received it before noon on Wednesday. You can't beat that and shipping was free. If you are looking for a small TV, consider this one. I am glad I took a chance on this one.

This tv is as good my 26 inch Sony in picture quality and tuner sensitivty. I have checked out everything carefully for two weeks, after the previous comments about returns.
The speakers need help. I plugged in a small set of speakers with their own power supply.
I have over-the-air digital and analog antennas. Digital for US, analog for Montreal 75 miles away.
I also plugged it in to computers for a second screen.

"Good TV for the price" 2010-01-21

I bought this TV for my girlfriend who needed a TV badly since she has her own apartment and no TV. This was the perfect gift for her for this past Christmas 2009 and now she won't practically leave her apartment and I have to come over now lol.

This and the Terk HDTVa Indoor Amplified High-Definition Antenna for Off-Air HDTV Reception are an excellent combination to receive crisp and clear reception when you have a one bedroom apartment. The picture quality comes in clear, the colors are vivid, and the added function to select what format you'd like to view it in is a plus. The sound is a tad tinny; it was to be expected that being it's a 12 inch television, however with the audio equalization function the audio sounds much better. The multi-source inputs in the back are a major plus since the dvd player that she has only has RCA outputs, and that helped me out with the installment.

Overall, I'd recommend this product if you plan to use it for a one bedroom apartment, kitchen, or perhaps as small computer monitor.

When I first opened the Colby TV I like what I saw. It's not like all the pictures of it that show a huge border around the screen. The overall size is just slightly larger than the screen like most other LCD TVs. What I didn't like was the sound. When increasing the volume absolutely nothing happened until it went from level 5 to 6. At 5 and below you couldn't hear it and at 6 it was too loud. Then it stayed at that volume until 14. From 15 on up it worked like it's supposed to but it was well above the normal listening range. Even had the volume control worked properly I would have returned the TV due to the tinny sound. Even with the base all the way up and the treble turned down the sound was far from acceptable. The only way this TV would be a keeper is if you plan to run it through another amplifier/speakers.
